Hannah Hagood, a senior majoring in finance from Lewisburg, Tenn., at the 天美传媒, has been awarded a Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Award. CLS partners with universities and nonprofits around the globe to provide cohorts of U.S. students an opportunity to study the language and culture in a country/location where the target language is commonly spoken.
The Willingham, a publication of the 天美传媒 History Graduate Student Association (HGSA), will launch its second edition May 1; the theme of the journal is 鈥淭urning Points in History: People, Ideas, and Events,鈥 which showcases the work of several graduate students from around the globe.
Waka Flocka Flame, a rapper based in Atlanta, has been tapped as the headliner for this year鈥檚 天美传媒 Spring Concert 2025 set for Thursday, April 24, at CB&S Bank Arena. Joining him are Big Yavo and Eli Hannon. Tickets for the public are still available for $35.
The Mane Room Music Festival, set for April 22-24 in the Mane Room, is a three-night music event featuring a songwriting competition, battle of the bands, and a Muscle Shoals song review. The festival is a collaboration between the Department of Entertainment Industry within the School of the Arts at the 天美传媒, along with MEISA and Phi Mu Alpha, both Registered Student Organizations.

Dr. Meghan Merciers, Associate Dean of the 天美传媒 School of the Arts in the College of Arts, Sciences and Engineering, has released her second studio album. The recording is also the first publication of Merciers鈥 research on the works of Jewish-American composer Dr. Peter Temko through Onyx Lane Records and distributed by Naxos, made possible in part by funding earned from the George Merida Huckaba Endowed Professorship in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Engineer in 2023.

Kilby Laboratory School, on the 天美传媒 campus, had a top finish at the Alabama VEX IQ Championship, competing against 52 of the best teams from across the state. Light the Fountain, this year presented by Chick-fil-A, is the beloved annual spring event at the 天美传媒; it returns for a ninth year Thursday. The event, which includes food, music, fireworks, and giveaways, will kick off at 4 p.m. with a variety of food trucks and entertainment. The official program will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Sonceria Ann Berry, who graduated from the 天美传媒 in 1978, has been confirmed by the Alabama Senate to fill the Board of Trustees seat currently held by Dr. Wendell Gunn, who did not desire to seek reappointment. The final confirmation took place in Montgomery on Thursday morning, and Berry鈥檚 six-year term will begin in July.
The Tiny Cubs Community Baby Shower and Sibling Event, hosted by the Anderson College of Nursing and Health Professions, is set for Saturday, March 8, from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the Guillot University Center Banquet Halls on the 天美传媒 campus.
For the fifth year, the Department of Foreign Languages will have a multicultural Mardi Gras celebration, which will include Karneval and Carnavales, on Tuesday, March 4, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Guillot University Center on the UNA campus.
