Daily Crime & Fire Logs/Summary of Criminal Incidents

The Daily Crime and Fire Log includes all crimes reported to UNA Police Department (UPD) that occur within the institution’s reportable Clery Geography (On Campus, in or on certain Non-campus buildings and property, on Public Property within and immediately adjacent to the campus, and within the expanded patrol jurisdiction of UPD).  The log also includes any fire that occurs in an on-campus student housing facility.

UPD has a working relationship with the Florence Police Department Dispatch Center which forwards a Calls for Service report to UPD which includes the nature of calls for service as well as the address of calls for service that occur within the UNA jurisdiction.

  • The Daily Crime & Fire log case numbers do not run sequentially. The UNA Police Department (UPD) assigns a case number for all reportable activities, both criminal and non-criminal. Only case numbers generated for criminal activity are listed in the crime log.
  • The Daily Crime & Fire log shows the most recent 60-days of activity.  Any requests for entries older than 60-days will need to email a request to hbmccullar@una.edu.
  • Entries are listed in chronological order based upon the date they are reported to UPD. The most recent crimes are at the bottom of the list.  Entries are added to the Daily Crime and Fire Log within 2 business days of being reported.
  • The crime log classification will not normally match the crime statistics published in our Annual Security and Fire Safety Report, as the Daily Crime & Fire Log is compiled using the State Crime/Penal Code and the crime statistics are required by law to be compiled using the definitions and standards proscribed by the Clery Act using the Federal Uniform Crime Reporting Summary Reporting System (SRS) definitions and standards and of National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS) definitions as required by the Clery Act.
  • Hard copies of the Daily Crime & Fire Log are also available at the UNA Police Department, in the basement of Keller Hall, Monday through Friday, 8am – 4:30pm.

According to Federal Law, an institution may withhold any of the required fields of entry from crime log entries, i.e. the nature, date, time, location and/or disposition if any of the following conditions apply:

  1. The disclosure is prohibited by law;
  2. If disclosure would jeopardize the confidentiality of the victim;
  3. If disclosure would jeopardize an ongoing criminal investigation or the safety of an individual;
  4. If disclosure would cause a suspect to flee or evade detection;
  5. If disclosure would result in the destruction of evidence.
